Dr. Nils Graßmann has been working as an attorney since 2002 and has been a legal advisor on energy law issues since then. The focus of his work lies in advising on grid regulation and power generation. Nils Graßmann advises utilities on the various aspects of energy law and conducts proceedings before the regulatory authorities and courts. He provided legal advice to electricity and gas network operators in concession tender procedures, in network transfers as well as in the establishment of SPVs and Joint Ventures.
In addition to his work for utilities, Nils Graßmann is also active for major energy consumers. In recent years, he has advised numerous power-intensive companies and railways on issues relating to the Renewable Energies Sources Act`s special equalisation scheme and assisted them with their applications. Together with his clients, Dr. Graßmann has implemented numerous projects on own consumption and continuously advises on all questions related to energy cost components.
He started his professional work as a lawyer in the field of renewable energies. Nils Graßmann supported project developers in the development of wind farms and has advised on the entire spectrum of legal issues related to it, be it project contracts, approvals or property security.
Later, he advised municipality owned utilities and power producers on issues relating to the Renewable Energy Sources Act, biomethane feed-in, solar contracting and the design of decentralized combined heat and power projects.
Nils Graßmann is co-editor of a commentary to the German Energy Industries Act “Elspas/Graßmann/Rasbach” and comments the chapters on concession tender procedures and grid transfers as well as on grid fees. He is the author of numerous publications in the energy industry sector and a sought-after speaker and seminar leader on energy law topics.
